Sierra Canyon Football: A Season Preview
2024 Season Outlook
Sierra Canyon football coach Jon Ellinghouse is optimistic about his team's chances in 2024. The Trailblazers return several key players from last year's squad, including quarterback Madden Riordan and running back Myles Baker.
Riordan is a talented passer who can also run the ball effectively. He threw for over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. Baker is a shifty runner who is difficult to tackle. He rushed for over 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns last season.
In addition to Riordan and Baker, Sierra Canyon also has a strong defense led by linebacker Kijani Wright. Wright is a physical player who can make tackles all over the field.
2024 Schedule
Sierra Canyon will kick off its 2024 season on August 16 against Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Trailblazers will then play three nonleague games before opening their Mission League schedule on September 15 against St. Francis High School.
Sierra Canyon's nonleague schedule includes games against Bishop Gorman High School (Las Vegas, Nevada), Mater Dei High School (Santa Ana, California), and Centennial High School (Corona, California).
The Trailblazers' Mission League schedule includes games against Crespi Carmelite High School (Encino, California), Chaminade College Preparatory School (West Hills, California), and Bishop Amat Memorial High School (La Puente, California).
