Origins and Design
The flag of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), officially known as the
`Alam Dawlat al-Imarat al-Arabiyya al-Muttahida` (Flag of the United Arab Emirates in Arabic), was designed in 1971. It incorporates the Pan-Arab colors of red, green, white, and black.
Symbolism
The flag symbolizes the unity of the seven emirates that comprise the UAE: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain.
