Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen attacked
The suspect has been arrested and police are investigating the motive behind the attack
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was attacked by a man on Friday in the capital city of Copenhagen, her office said. The police said an arrest had been made but a motive was still being investigated.
Frederiksen, who has led the country since 2019, was not injured in the attack, her office said. The suspect, a 24-year-old man, was arrested shortly after the incident.
Frederiksen is a member of the Social Democratic Party and has been a member of the Folketing, the Danish parliament, since 2001. She was appointed prime minister on June 27, 2019.
