The History of the Columbia Logo

The Iconic Logo

Columbia Sportswear Company's logo is a recognizable symbol in the sportswear industry. The intertwining "C" and "S" letters form a bold and distinctive design that has stood the test of time. The logo has undergone several iterations over the years, but its core elements have remained consistent.

The Bug Logo

The earliest version of the Columbia logo, known as the "Bug" logo, was created in 1938. This logo featured a simple, stylized "C" and "S" that were interwoven to resemble a bug. The logo was used on Columbia's early products, including hiking boots and camping gear.

The Intertwining "C" and "S"

In 1970, Columbia updated its logo to the more familiar intertwining "C" and "S" design. This logo was more refined and modern than the previous Bug logo, and it quickly became the company's signature symbol. The logo has been slightly modified over the years, but its basic shape has remained unchanged.
